Arkansas Foodies was launched in the fall of 2010 as a celebration of the food and culture of the great state of Arkansas.  A mixture of recipes, restaurant reviews, and food festival write-ups, Arkansas Foodies is a labor of love owned and maintained by Michael and Jess.  Named as one of the best food blogs in the state in 2011 and 2012 by the Arkansas Times, we’ve been proud to represent Arkansas food and all the great folks who cook, sell, serve, write about and eat it.  Arkansas Foodies was also voted runner-up “Best Blog” in the 2011 and 2012 Arkansas Times Readers’ Choice Poll, Best Blog in Little Rock in the 2012 About.com readers’ poll, and has been featured on such blogs as Stardust (run by Tito’s Handmade Vodka), New Belgium Brewing’s “Foodie Fridays.” In addition, the Arkansas Foodies Twitter feed was voted runner-up best Twitter feed in the state by readers of the Arkansas Times in 2013.

In 2012, Michael became the editor of the Arkansas Times’ Eat Arkansas Blog, (placing as a finalist for “Best Blog” in the 2014 and 2015 Arkansas Times Reader’s Choice poll), as well as doing restaurant reviews and stories for their print edition. In 2014, Michael was named editor of Arkansas Food and Farm magazine, an ambitious project that combines information and feature stories about the farmers, artisans, and chefs that grow and produce the local products that make Arkansas such a special place. In 2015, his editor’s role expanded with Arkansas Made magazine, a curated publication detailing art, sculpture and other crafted goods from the state. Michael has also edited two other publications from the Arkansas Times, the annual Heights, Hillcrest and Riverdale neighborhood guide, and Welcome Home.

Michael’s work has also appeared in Sync Weekly magazine, Arkansas Life magazine, and Arkansauce, the UALR journal of Arkansas foodways. In 2013, he joined Mary Twedt’s Arkansas Cooks radio program for a short stint as a correspondent. Further radio endeavors have included a frequent guest spot on The Alice Stewart Show, though he can’t really condone most of what goes on with talk radio.
